Accident Prone

The Health and Safety Executive has revealed that they are currently investigating a factory in Cambridgeshire after one of its employees was seriously injured by the firm's accident book. The HSE have not released the name of the company but they have said that the injured man became trapped beneath the book as he was attempting to record another accident, in which a colleague received a mild concussion after banging his head on a 'Mind Your Head' sign.

We're told that this is not the first time that this particular company has been investigated. Six months ago concerns were expressed after three workers received lacerations from a guard rail, and a fourth individual was nearly strangled by a safety harness. At the time, HSE investigators also raised questions about the lack of a proper emergency evacuation procedure, although on that occasion their enquiries were cut short when a fire extinguisher burst into flames.
